Last month Unifor members working for Boeing in Winnipeg ratified a new collective agreement. The new contract includes improvements to benefits, pension plan enhancements, and wage increases of 9 per cent over the duration of the term.
An important addition in the new collective agreement is a commitment to maintain work at the Winnipeg facility, something growing more important as the U.S. president tries to escalate a trade war.
“Aerospace is a critical component to Canada’s high tech workforce,” said Jerry Dias, National President. “Unifor members at Boeing are highly-skilled and manufacture excellent products.”
Local 2169 represents nearly 1,300 workers at the Winnipeg facility producing parts and assemblies for Boeing commercial airplanes.
Unifor says the wage increases also include an additional boost to narrow the wage gaps between workers at the plant.
