Bell workers rally

Bell Canada workers in Quebec rallied twice this month to protest the company’s decision to reclassify more than 350 members in Ontario and Quebec.

The move would see many members moved to a lower wage class.

Unifor, which negotiated a salary freeze for the duration of the current collective agreement, has strongly denounced this measure and has instructed its legal team to examine possible courses of action to challenge it under the law and the collective agreement.

Members in Montreal and Quebec City organized marches on April 3 and 17 to show their solidarity and support for affected members.

Unifor represents more than 26,700 telecommunication workers across Canada.
