Unifor Local 2002 members at Alliance Ground International (AGI) in Toronto have overwhelmingly ratified their new three-year agreement by 84%.
“Congratulations to our aviation members at AGI on securing this deal,” said Unifor National President Lana Payne.
“A collective agreement that builds on a living wage and job security helps relieve the pressure many workers feel in this sector.”
The bargaining committee negotiated robust improvements that strengthen job security and overall compensation for frontline workers.
Members’ priorities throughout the negotiations focused on securing meaningful wage increases and enhanced premiums to keep pace with rising costs and recognize the demanding nature of their work.
The contract includes wage increases of 7% to 15% over the three years, and increases in premiums, uniforms, and shoe allowances.
Unifor represents over 400 members at AGI Toronto.
AGI members handle passenger services, which include check-in, boarding passengers and bridging aircraft, ramp, and maintenance services, as contract workers for various airlines at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport.
Ramp members provide baggage handling, aircraft marshalling, and lavatory services. Cargo members perform loading and unloading of cargo from aircraft, processing outbound cargo shipments, and other warehouse-related duties.
The agreement will expire April 7, 2028.
“This ratification is a testament to the dedication and unity of our AGI Toronto members,” said Tammy Moore, President of Unifor Local 2002.
“In a challenging industry, we’ve secured the wage gains and protections our workers deserve, ensuring they can focus on critical cargo and ground handling that keep Toronto’s aviation hub running smoothly.”
Unifor Local 2002 also represents AGI essential workers in Calgary, advocating for fair wages and safe working conditions.
