Alberta NDP Leader Rachel Notley calls on Albertans to make history

Alberta NDP Leader Rachel Notley said that May 5 is time for change in the province.

“It’s time for change with new ideas – the idea that the wealthiest among us contribute just a little bit more,” Notley said in her address to the Prairie Regional Council taking place in Alberta.

Notley was flanked by Unifor members who work in the national resource sector, where she would focus on bringing more oil refining jobs into the province.

“Jim Prentice wants you and your family to pay for his mistakes – this just isn’t good enough. We don’t have to accept the idea that Prentice and his government’s mistakes are your fault.”

Notley said that instead of repeating history, the province can make history – by choosing a new government and a new direction that better fits with the values of Albertans. “The PC priorities are not your priorities and they’re not mine either.”

Later, in a speech by Western Regional Director Joie Warnock, she referred to Notley as “Alberta’s next premier.”

“Rachel and the NDP have put in the time it takes to earn the trust of Albertans. Her team has carefully put together a principled plan that resonates with Albertans.”
