Job Posting: Temporary Workroom Technician - Toronto, National Office

Unifor is looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Workroom Technician to fill a full-time temporary (maternity, parental leave) position in the Workroom at the National Office.  The successful candidate will be responsible for working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment so you must be highly organized with the ability to prioritize. This person will also work closely with the Workroom Lead-Hand and the Senior Director.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Work in all areas of the workroom including print, mail, shipment and inventory;

  • Provide accurate information and exemplary service while processing orders and while managing emails, phone calls and requests from staff, locals, and members; 

  • Follow up with individuals who have submitted incomplete orders;

  • Receive and unload deliveries, arrange pick up and shipment with designated couriers;

  • Ensure items received match the P.O. and are in good condition;

  • Complete order requests using the department’s inventory software;

  • Stock and maintain inventory as needed, this includes ensuring inventory accuracy, notifying when minimum quantities are reached to avoid inventory depletion or back-orders;

  • Ship outgoing parcels, course kits and legal documentation to ensure delivery meets the expected needs;

  • Prepare skid shipments for conferences and events and document easy retrieval of materials;

  • Offer some support to the print room technician with simple print jobs as needed;

  • All other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education, diploma holder or equivalent experience; 

  • At least two (2) years’ experience in a similar role or equivalent;

  • Ability to work from a standing position and lift boxes up to 50 lbs;

  • Proficiency in ACCPAC or similar program;

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel;

  • Strong project, and time management skills;

  • Exceptional ability to juggle multiple tasks and projects while working within sometimes tight and competing deadlines;

  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills;

  • Exceptional attention to detail - able to perform tasks accurately, thoroughly, and without errors, to ensure high-quality, reliable work.

  • Ability to solve problems and deal with ambiguous situations;

  • Bilingual French / English is an asset;

  • Highly motivated self-starter with ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
