General Motors Credited Service Dispute - Update

Unifor's complaint against General Motors for arbitrarily reducing the pension credited service for a group of active and retired members remains active.

During 2020 negotiations, Unifor raised this issue at the bargaining table. Unifor and GM did not reach a resolution, however, the parties did agree to continue the discussions post bargaining. Unifor and GM continue to have "without prejudice" discussions in an effort to reach a negotiated solution. Unifor is seeking a reliable individual review process that would allow affected members and retires to challenge the GM decision to arbitrarily their reduced credited service.

We certainly fully appreciate the frustration with the time and delay in resolving this matter and welcome your comments.  We are taking every step available to ensure GM is held to the promises they made to members around their lifetime retirement benefits and have no intention of relenting in terms of holding GM accountable.

Thank you for your continued support of our efforts. We hope to have news of further developments soon to report out to the affected members and retirees.
