On March 16 Unifor Local 651 members ratified a new three-year collective agreement with the Delta Hotel Regina.
“Unifor is a union for hospitality workers,” said Jerry Dias, National President. “I’m proud of the work done by union members and the Local 651 bargaining committee to make gains for hotel workers.”
The new contract, effective retroactively to May 2017, includes annual wage increases of 2 per cent, and 2.75 per cent for the following two years. In bargaining, Local 651 was also able to secure a three per cent increase to the employer’s matching contribution to the RRSP program and an extra personal day for Delta workers with more than eight years seniority. The new contract will expire in May 2020.
“The bargaining committee deserves a lot of credit for sticking together and finding solutions at the table,” said Dan Bailey, National Representative.
Unifor represents 130 members across all departments at the Delta hotel in Regina. As Canada’s largest union in the private sector, the union has continually shown to have the experience and influence to support hotel workers in the push for fairness and better conditions.
Across Canada Unifor represents more than 19,000 hospitality and gaming sector workers.
