The first time Muslims were killed inside a mosque in North America happened on January 29, 2017 and it happened in Canada.
One year later Toronto takes a step in the right direction with Councillor Neethan Shan successful motion to declare January 29 an annual Day of Remembrance and Action on Islamophobia. The motion which passed on Thursday, February 1, 2018 also calls on City Council to request that Ontario and the federal government do the same.
