Share

This one-day program is a basic introductory course intended for new Unifor health and safety representatives. This course will introduce participants to provincial health and safety legislation that governs and regulates our workplaces. Fundamental worker rights including the right to refuse unsafe work and the role of health and safety reps supporting workers exercising these rights will be examined in detail. Through small group discussions, case studies, and other activities, participants draw from their own workplace experiences for insight into proven health and safety principles and best practices. This course will provide participants with the foundational knowledge and skills to take up a worker health and safety concern, make the most of joint-management health and safety committee meetings, keep accurate records, assess workplace hazards and recommend resolutions through inspections, and conduct a job safety analysis.
