Unifor has reached a tentative three-year agreement with Nasittuq Corporation, where Unifor members from Local 2002 work at the Canadian Forces Station Alert in the Qikiqtaaluk region of Nunavut.

Highlights of this contract include increased wages, benefits, premiums, allowances, and vacation pay after five years of service, as opposed to the previous 10-year mark.

Additionally, improvements have been made to compensation for administrative work, and new positions for Racial Justice and Women’s Advocates have been established.

An online and in-person ratification vote is scheduled on May 6. More details of the contract will be released after the results.

The 70 members in this unit provide a comprehensive range of support services to Canada’s Department of National Defence at CFS Alert, including facilities maintenance, airfield operations, food services and transport, logistical and administrative support.

This contract expires on May 31, 2027.
