CAMBRIDGE, ON, May 29, 2015 /CNW/ - Unifor is holding a Rally and Family Fun Day this Saturday to demand answers from Toyota about what is next for the Cambridge North plant, and to give Team Members and their friends and families something fun, after weeks of worry and speculation.
"Team Members deserve answers about what is coming next and what it means to them, their families and the entire community," said Unifor Organizer Bob Van Cleef.
"And, their families deserve a day of fun, and not just worry. Unifor is trying to address both needs. Everyone is welcome"
Toyota announced last month that it had decided to move Corolla production to Mexico, but has not yet given a clear answer of what will replace the Corolla, or what the company's decision means for Team Members.
Things get underway Saturday at 9:45am, with a rally on the front lawn of the North Plant for Team Members and their supporters, to highlight the importance of every job inside the plant.
Participants will march to the École secondaire Père-René-de-Galinée to join their families and more members of the community at the Unifor Family Fun Day, already underway.
It'll be a family-friendly event open to the entire community and featuring bouncy castles, games, food and ice cream, plus goodies for the children to take home. The Family Fun Day begins at 10am, with Rally participants arriving around 11am.
There will also be a table set up for Toyota Team Members to sign a Unifor card, and for family and community members to sign Community Support Cards backing Team Members' efforts to gain a voice by joining Unifor.

Unifor is Canada's largest union in the private sector, representing more than 305,000 workers. It was formed Labour Day weekend 2013 when the Canadian Auto Workers and the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers union merged.
