The Unifor member-to-member campaign for the upcoming provincial election is off to a running start with a team of energetic organizers starting on the ground last week in Lethbridge, Calgary, and Edmonton.

United Conservative Party Premier Danielle Smith and her predecessor Jason Kenney have attacked workers’ rights from the start of their term in 2019. Combined with their funding cuts to health care and public education, there is no shortage of reasons for Unifor members to mobilize for a change in government.

“Danielle Smith has caused chaos and instability in Alberta. Workers deserve a premier who respects our contribution to the workforce and will listen to our concerns,” said Gavin McGarrigle, Unifor Western Regional Director.

Unifor members from across the province have been trained over the past month for an outreach campaign whose goal is to mobilize as many members as possible to vote in the election, expected to be called for May 29, 2023.

McGarrigle was in Calgary last week to meet with members and lend a hand in the campaigning efforts.

All Unifor members in Alberta are also encouraged to volunteer as much time as possible outside of work hours with campaigns of worker-friendly candidates in their areas.
