Canada’s largest union in the private sector has endorsed Irene Lanzinger for President of the BC Federation of Labour. Lanzinger is currently the elected Secretary-Treasurer of the BC Fed.

“With all of the challenges facing British Columbians in the workplace, we need a leader with experience and a strong record of standing up to government. Irene is that leader,” said Joie Warnock, Western Director of Unifor.

Lanzinger led the BC Teachers’ Federation from 2007–2010. Before holding the highest elected office with the BCTF, she was Vice President and Chief Negotiator during the difficult 2002 and 2005 negotiations.

Lanzinger began her teaching career in Abbotsford, later becoming President of the Vancouver Secondary Teachers' Association from 1997–2000.

“We’re very proud to stand with Irene,” said Warnock. “Irene has experience leading local and provincial unions. She knows what it takes to bring diverse voices together in common cause."
