Members of Unifor Local 114, representing 77 drivers, mechanics, service staff and ticket agents, have ratified a new 4 year collective agreement with Pacific Coach Lines.

The new contract was ratified May 17th with 98 per cent of members voting in favour.  The deal improves benefit qualification, full time classification and severance packages for long-serving members.

After performing cross-water bus service with BC Ferries for 30 years the company lost the contract in 2015, leading to lay-offs of about 70% of PCL's workforce.

"This was a difficult negotiation as we fought for fair severance for our veteran members," said Mario Santos, Unifor National Representative. “Looking to the future we believe this agreement provides PCL with the tools they need to grow the business and ensure stability for the company and for our members.”

“I’m proud of what the bargaining committee was able to achieve,” said Unifor Western Director Joie Warnock. “Despite many challenges, including a lock-out threat, they continued to bargain in good faith to reach this deal.”
