Given the great gains during their two-year term that started in 2015, the OFL leadership team made a bid for re-election and successfully won a second mandate to continue their work.

The team, including Chris Buckley as President, Patty Coates as Secretary-Treasurer and Ahmad Gaied as Executive Vice-President, also known as Fed Forward made a commitment to continue the activism built around the province as a result of the Make it Fair campaign and pledged to keep moving forward for working people in Ontario. Delegates overwhelmingly endorsed this vision by supporting all three candidates.

To show support with a plan to continue moving the Federation forward the Unifor caucus made a unanimous endorsement of the entire Fed Forward team. Brother Buckley, Unifor local 222 member, was nominated for re-election by Unifor and seconded by CUPE Ontario.

On Tuesday at convention an election for the position of President was held with Buckley being declared re-elected with an overwhelming vote. Coates and Gaied were also acclaimed to their positions as the only candidates nominated.

Unifor congratulates all three officers and extended its solidarity to further the work of building a strong labour movement in Ontario.
