Harassment – it’s not okay on the job

In this new video, media workers speak out about sexual harassment in the workplace that is both in public areas and online. This video was used as an important discussion tool at a Media Council workshop on May 12, 2018 in Kelowna, but the issue of harassment is one that occurs in all types of workplaces.

Harassment is an issue for all of us as workers; some workers experience it, others hear about it and/or witness it, and it impacts all of us. When harassment happens the workplace is no longer a safe and healthy space.

Unifor encourages all members to watch this important video and spark a conversation in your workplace and local. Every member needs to speak up, intervene, and take action to stop all forms of harassment and harassing behavior. Through bargaining, meetings with the employer, and grievances, the union is also working to ensure employers in all sectors meet obligations under human rights and health and safety legislation to make our workplaces free of harassment.
