This has been a particularly difficult year for many Canadians. The COVID-19 pandemic has hit every household in some way. Jobs have been lost, or changed significantly. Loved ones have become sick. We all worry.

“The need for food banks this year is greater than ever,” Unifor National President Jerry Dias said.

“If you can afford it, please give generously to your local food bank, and help your neighbours through this difficult time.”

Unifor’s Social Justice Fund has made donations to food banks across Canada throughout the pandemic, including $10,000 last month to Newfoundland food banks, where striking Unifor members at Dominion are collecting food on their picket lines this week.

Unifor has launched a Build Back Better campaign to addresses inequities exposed by the pandemic, and to ensure a more equitable Canada after the pandemic.

“While we build for a better tomorrow, it is vital that we continue to address the needs of today,” Dias said.
