Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) are trained professionals and are a vitally important part of the hospital care medical team. Unifor represents approximately 3,000 of the 18,000 RPNs who work in Ontario hospitals.
On May 8, the first day of Nursing Week, the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario called for the elimination of RPNs from most Ontario hospitals.
Unifor is determined to support the work of RPNs in our hospitals and is working closely with the Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario and other unions that represent RPNs.
Please take a moment to send a letter to Premier Kathleen Wynne and Minister of Health and Long-term Care Dr. Eric Hoskins and ask that they continue supporting RPNs and building strong health care teams in hospitals. https://actnow.rpnao.org/
