Bell clerical workers have helped to build the country’s largest telecommunications company, and behind the scenes, keep Bell customers connected.
However, over the last two decades clerical workers have experienced a concerted strategy by Bell to cut the workforce and eliminate unionized jobs in the process.
Enough is enough.
Members across Ontario and Quebec are mobilizing to support their bargaining team. This round of bargaining is about the future of the work for nearly 5,000 Bell Clerical workers, who have seen the number of jobs in unit cut in half in the past 10 years alone.
At this point in negotiations, although there has been some agreement on non-monetary issues, Bell Canada is refusing to move on demands relating to seniority rights and fairness at work and it has even announced surpluses during negotiations.
On Thursday, November 2, members across Ontario and Quebec wore red to work as part of coordinated workplace action. Bell Canada must see that the union is united and strong around the demand to stop job erosion and protect good, unionized jobs.
