Canada remains the only country in the world with a universal health care system that doesn't include prescription medication. Three million Canadians are unable to afford their prescription medication and 9 in 10 Canadians support having a National Public Drug Plan to provide universal access to prescription drugs.
The Canadian Health Coalition hosted a policy conference April 10-11, 2017 in Ottawa, Ontario, to discuss how we can lower drug costs, increase drug safety, ensure equitable access for everyone, and learn lessons from countries around the world who have already implemented such a program. Take Action Now
We encourage you to visit CHC’s campaign page where you will find steps you can take to voice your support for a National Public Drug Plan, for example by signing this parliamentary petition, or by spreading the word on your social networks with social media resources.
Unifor has been active in demanding a national public drug plan, as part of a more effective system of health care for all Canadians. We encourage all members to sign the petition, take action and fight to defend and enhance our public health care system.
